National Philanthropy

“I believe in the fulfillment of self and will strive to contribute my share to the progress of mankind.”

For the Sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau, these are more than words in the Sorority’s Creed; they are a way of life. Day after day, community to community, our members strive to make their world a better place. They tap into their life experiences as women and as Alpha Sigma Taus, giving back to their communities through philanthropy and hands-on service.

National Philanthropy: Women's Wellness Initiative

Alpha Sigma Tau’s National Philanthropy is the Women’s Wellness Initiative. This far-reaching philanthropy empowers members to impact women's wellness in their communities through fundraising and service projects.

The Women’s Wellness Initiative also provides opportunities for community service and philanthropy that are relevant to Alpha Sigma Tau’s mission.

Through the Initiative, members and chapters can have an impact on their local communities as well as globally, and have the independence to choose projects most relevant to them. They work directly with nonprofits in their own backyards – conducting philanthropy, service projects, and other activities that benefit women where our members live, work, and go to school.

Chapter Philanthropy & Service

In addition to national partners, collegiate chapters also support local causes through philanthropic fundraising and hands-on service on their campuses and in their local communities.

As a member of Alpha Sigma Tau, you will continually rededicate yourself to contribute your share to the progress of mankind. Social service is a vital aspect of our lives and our sisterhood - our way of expressing concern for others. Everyday we strive to ".. contribute our share to the progress of mankind."

In keeping with our founding principles, each new member class will sponsor in a local service project under the supervision of our chapter philanthropy. This is an excellent opportunity to work together and get to know each other better while helping others in our community.

The Delta Epsilon Chapter is also actively involved in the Relay for Life walk hosted by Marist College. Relay for Life honors cancer survivors, pays tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it. From dusk' till dawn we walk around the green to show our support in the fight against cancer. Each year we make cancer ribbon t-shirts and make this philanthropy an exciting sisterhood event -- which is near and dear to many of our sisters hearts. In 2015, we raised more money than any other team and came in first place. We hope to continue this and make it a tradition.

Along with Relay for Life, we are also involved with the St. Jude: Up Till Dawn event which happens every fall semester on campus. At St.Jude: Up Till Dawn we stay up all night to raise money for St. Jude Research hospital. We stay up to help children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. We stay up to make sure that their parents and guardians never have to pay a medical bill. in 2018, we were the Greek Organization that raised the most money for St.Jude. We hope to continue this amazing event for the upcoming years.
