About Us

hi

Our Club:
We are two groups in one: a club and a team! Every participant is a member of the club, and only those who want to compete are on the team. Competing is completely optional, but all skill levels are encouraged to show in order to develop a well rounded and more competitive team. We strive to create a love of horses for new members, and heighten experience levels among veteran riders.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I'm new at Marist, and am just looking for a club to join. I have no experience with horses, but am interested in participating. Can I be a member of the equestrian club?

Absolutely! We are always looking to expand our team and welcome new riders of all ability levels.

Do I need my own horse to join the club?

No! We ride at Crosswinds Equestrian Center , which has experienced and knowledgeable instructors as well as fabulous and dependable lesson horses to suit every skill level. If you do own your own horse and are thinking of bringing it to Marist, please email us for more information.

How will I manage the club in addition to my classes and other activities?

Finding time to participate is very manageable, as lessons are arranged to fit your schedule. You will be assigned to a one hour lesson slot on any day of the week. You are in charge of preparing your horse for the lesson, as well as untacking after. When the overall lesson schedule is made, the full time is factored in to your personal class schedule, and you will be assigned accordingly.

How will I get to lessons? And shows, if I choose to compete?

Transportation to lessons is worked out within the club. Participants with cars create a carpool system. Buses to shows are provided by the team and Marist.

I'm interested in competing, but am not sure. Can I have more information?

There is no pressure to compete, but if you choose to, the team is a member of Zone 3, Region 3 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association © (IHSA).
