Executive Vice President
My name is Billy Burke and I have recently been appointed as Executive Vice President on the Student Government E-board for the 2008-2009 school year. This will be my final year at Marist, studying Public Relations and Business. I became involved in Student Government at the end of my freshman year when I was appointed as Vice President for Club Affairs. I remained in this position for 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. My time as VP for Club Affairs only furthered my passion for helping students get involved on campus and maximize their college experience. I very much enjoyed overseeing the Club Affairs Council, helping to bring eight new clubs to the Marist campus, maintaining a solid network of communication between clubs and Student Government, and organizing Activities Fairs and leadership conferences for club officers. It also gave me two full years of experience on the e-board, preparing me for my current position.
I am also heavily involved in theatre on campus through the student-run Marist College Council on Theatre Arts (MCCTA) and the English department's Marist Theatre program, having performed in six productions thus far at Marist. I have also participated in Marist Singers and Chamber Singers, and served as VP of Men's Singers for 2006-2007. I am a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) at Marist, and the national theatre honor society, Alpha Psi Omega, as the Business Manager for the Marist chapter. I have also been inducted into the Dean's Circle for the School of Comm. and the Arts, and Beta Gamma Sigma, the Dean's Honor Society for Business students.
I am extremely excited to spend my senior year working with the Student Body President, members of the E-board and Senate, college administrators, and of course fellow students to develop projects that will help Student Government continue to make a positive difference on campus. I feel that my time working with club leaders gives me the foundation to serve well in this advisory role. Feel free to e-mail me at William.Burke1@marist.edu with any input or suggestions, or stop by the SGA Office on the 3rd floor of the Student Center any time!
