Vice President for Academic Affairs
Hi everyone, I’m Heather Staats, the Vice President of Academic Affairs for 2009-2010. As the Student Representative for the School of Liberal Arts this past year, I have worked closely with faculty to discuss issues pertaining to the curriculum, particularly the core here at Marist. I was involved in table discussions at this year’s faculty retreat to try and bring a student voice to the discussion on the core. I also chair the Student Academic Council which is comprised of representatives from each of the schools of study to give a voice to the students concerning academic issues.
As VP of Academic Affairs, I truly hope to get more of my fellow students involved with their education. Marist is a wonderful school but in order to fix any problems that exist within the curriculum, student opinions are truly important. It is my main goal to let the student body know who their representative is and encourage them to talk to these people in order to have their voices heard. Students can come directly to me via e-mail at sga.sac@marist.edu or in my office hours in the student government office about any concerns that they have over majors, academic programs, or the core.
