Michael Johnson is a Criminal Justice Major in the Paralegal program, set to graduate in the year 2013. As a student from Montville, New Jersey, Michael is also a member of Toastmasters, The St. Jude Fundraising Committee, and the Chess Club, and is a Marist Ambassador. After joining the Student Government Association his freshman year as a member of the Junior Senate, Michael was elected to the position of Resident Senator, and later, Senate Speaker. Since then, his focus as a representative to the student body has been “Safety and Security.” Outside of his work in the office, Senator Johnson focuses his personal life on family and friends. Gabriella Lutjen is a Criminal Justice major from Smithtown, New York. She is a member of the Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team, a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and Toastmasters. Gabriella was a Junior Senator under the Lubrano administration and is now a Resident Senator in the Paulsen Administration. In high school, she was a three-year letter winner for Varsity Volleyball, where she was not only captain, but most valuable player, all county, league player of the year, and all-league. At Smithtown High School, she made the honor roll all eight semesters and was a contributor for the school paper. She was also a recipient of the Bob Pratt memorial Scholarship. Kristy is a Biology/Chemistry major originally from Commack, NY. Kristy is the chair of the Marist College Dining Advisory Committee, and is always looking to make the Marist Dining Hall better than it is already. On Long Island, Kristy graduated apart of the Class of 2010 at Commack High School, and continued onto Marist where she is a member of the class of 2014. Kristy is an active member in the Student Booster Club, Campus Ministry and works for admissions as a Marist Ambassador. Jane Tracy serves as a Resident Senator representing resident students in Student Government. Jane is a sophomore from North Bellmore, NY on Long Island. She is an English Secondary Education major with a concentration in writing. At Marist, Jane is a part of Singers, Campus Ministry, and the Running Club. In high school, she was a varsity athlete on track and cross country, highly involved in jazz choir, and was President of the National English honor society chapter at her school. Courtney was an officer in Student Council for three years serving as Vice President during her senior year. She held many other leadership positions including Pioneer Chorale Soprano II Section Leader, Senior Class Treasurer, Co-founder and Music Director for her high school's first acappella group, and was an editor for her school's newspaper. Courtney was Valedictorian and was voted Miss Pioneer as well as Best Personality of her senior class. At Marist Courtney is a Soprano II Section Leader for the Freshman Women's Ensemble and is involved in Arise, Booster Club, Campus Ministry, Leo Hall Residence Hall Council, and the Ambassador Program. As a freshman this year she also has attended a NEACURH conference and is looking forward to attending the ASGA regional conference this spring. I am a Junior Business Marketing major from Brooklyn, NY. I was appointed to the Senate in November of 2011. In High School I was the captain of the Xavier High School Varsity baseball team for two years, as well as serving in various roles in the Bonnie Youth Club Organization. Meaghan Neary is a Public Relations major with a minor in Business. She is originally from Hicksville, NY, and loves being from Long Island. In addition to being the Senior Class President, she is an active member of the Marist College Dance Ensemble, is on the Relay for Life committee, the St. Jude Up ‘Til Dawn executive board, is a proud member of the NEACURH delegation, and is a Resident Assistant for the Office of Housing and Residential Life.  Meaghan is especially looking forward to working on the Senior Class Gift campaign to help educate students on the importance of giving back to Marist. Paul is currently the President of the Marist College Class of 2013.  He has been elected to serve in this role for 3 consecutive terms, and has only attained a greater appreciation for Marist from his dealings in this position.  This past semester Paul, along with his class executive board, has put on events ranging from trips to the FDR Museum to an awesome Super Bowl Party.  He also enjoys his vocal role as a Senator, continually serving as a voice for students across campus.  Paul serves his fraternity, Alpha Phi Delta, as Vice President and bats cleanup for his Intramural Softball Team.  From Massachusetts, Paul enjoys watching whatever Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics or Patriots action he can get!  You can contact Paul at or by calling the Student Government office anytime.

Deborah Akinwunmi

Deborah Akinwunmi is currently the Class President of 2014. Deborah is involved in numerous activities on campus, including Ambassadors, Singers, Gospel Choir, and the Marist Dance Ensemble. Coming into Marist, Deborah wanted to get involved immediately, and she found that Student Government has been one of the best mediums to do so. She has learned to grow and love all of those she works with, and she has found a great passion to help the class of 2014 in whatever capacity she can. Giananthony Damasco

Giananthony Damasco is a Business administration Major with an emphasis in International Business. From Flushing, Queens, Giananthony was the Student Body President of his High School for 3 years as well as Creator and Operator of his schools General Office Store. In his spare time he was sales manager at Petruccelli International Distributors, a baseball coach for Dwarf Giraffe Little League, and a Religious education teacher for Kindergarten children at St. Andrews Avellino. Giananthony wanted to take his passion for serving his community and continue it at Marist where he found the Student Government Association to be the best place to do so. As President of the class of 2015 his goal is to make the 2011-2012 academic year the most memorable for the freshman class which is why he is always looking for feedback as to what students would like to see at Marist.
